Hive & the Honey Bees

6/6/2010 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Bill Kopar will speak about a variety of
honeybee related topics including: where honey
comes from, the importance of honeybees, why
honeybees are considered the perfect pollinator,
amazing facts about bees and the many prod-
ucts we receive from honey bees.
An observation hive will be on display
(weather permitting) to get a close look at one
of the most amazing insects on earth. The
glass hive has about a fifteenth of the bees in a
working hive.  You can pick up the frame with
3,000 bees in it and they are very docile.  The
hive he will have has 1 queen and thousands of
working bees and will show what life is like in
an actual beehive.
Bees are important part of our Environment and are one of the feature
attractions at Harrison Hills Park celebration of World Envoironmental Day.

Bill is the owner of Kopar Honey Farm in Fawn township, and has been
managing bees since 1998.  The farm currently has 103 colonies of bees
and is growing.

A $3 donation per attendee is suggested for support of the Environ-
mental Learning Center.
